3. S.O.S MESSAGE OF DISTRESS - ENGLIS VERSION :

« The Pope, the Pope has the fate of us [pygmies] Mbuti. But the Pope has neglected us and forsaken. Could we first get some help? We ask first to get peace. We want to return home so we do not suffer here. But, refugees we have already been neglected.

Who still stand for refugee problems?  The fate of refugees has been forgotten. Shall they just bring us peace so that we can return in the forest ? We would go home in the forest so that we don't suffer anymore.

I was pretty strong but I have lost weight because of hunger, because of sleeping in the cold. We are suffering from cold. The cold penetrates through the school windows.

We are suffering, there's nothing to eat, and there is no blanket. The Pope is our authority. We will die if they refuse to bring us help. But we would [prefer] to die in the forest.

The [pygmy] Mbuti are being decimated by the raging war. Three of my children died. They have preceded me in my grave. So, I decided to leave the bush that I don't die.

I suffer from hunger, hunger. I went looking for pick cassava leaves. But I still lack food to feed myself. Today, I will not eat and I would stay like this. I will sleep with hunger. There's nothing to eat ».
